If you love bridal shows but missed the Enchanted Brides Bridal Show, keep on reading.  We enjoy doing bridal shows to meet potential brides, of course, but also to meet other local wedding vendors around Knoxville.  We always see vendors in magazines, on Facebook, and in blog photos but it’s nice to talk with people in person.  Some of the vendors we had worked with on weddings and others we got to meet for the first time.  This bridal show took place at The Knoxville Museum of Art which is such a beautiful venue!  I love the light and open space!  Did you know they rent it out for weddings and other events?

We have been wanting to build a free-standing wall to hang our canvases on during bridal shows.  It’s always so hard to know what space we will have to work with for shows and how we will need to display our work (I say this as if we do lots of shows, but really this was just our second show…but we’re ready now!)  Building a wall didn’t seem like too hard of a task, and I was luckily able to get my husband on board.  I won’t go into all the details, but I was happy with the outcome.

And now for the rest of the great local vendors:

Yeehaw!  KAPA’s first Boot-Scootin’ Ball was this past Friday night and everyone was dressed for some country-western fun!  There were lots of people that showed up to show their support for this great organization.  Basically KAPA (Knoxville Area Project Acces)  is an initiative led by the physicians of the Knoxville Academy of Medicine to provide access to healthcare for low-income, uninsured residents of Knox County, TN.  The night started with a cocktail hour and silent auction, followed by dinner and some line-dancing.  The folks from Cotton-Eyed Joe led a few dances and got the crowd involved.  There was also a rockin’ band, Reckless, that played into the night and got some people out on the dance floor.

We set up a photo booth and took pictures of couples and groups as they arrived.  We had some extra props, hats, etc. that they could use.  Being early in the evening, most people opted to just sport their country-western get-up they wore for the night.  We had a few take advantage of the props, but either way most people weren’t in their everyday clothes.  We will be posting all photos from the evening here: KAPA’s Boot-Scootin’ Gallery.  Photos will be available for purchase through the gallery and a portion of the sales will be donated to KAPA.  Thanks to everyone that came out and for the overwhelming support of KAPA.

We had fun making mustaches last week…and then we had even more fun taking pictures with them at the Enchanted Brides Show last Sunday.  What’s your ‘stache style?  Vote for your favorite now and help one couple win a free engagement session.

We were honored to be invited to the Wedding Row Open House.  Lisa Foster asked if we would like to be a part of the event and take some pictures of it.  If you have not stopped by “Wedding Row” on Bearden Hill, you really should!  What a great location for brides.  You can stop and smell the flowers at Lisa Foster Floral Design, look for the perfect wedding dress at Wedding Wonderland, and shop for linens from White Table.  All in one stop!  All of these ladies do great work and have awesome products!  You can see for yourself below.  The Wedding Row Open House was such a great idea.  It allowed brides to visit these three shops, as well as many other local vendors.

A few from the field…

November 23, 2011

Here’s a few from the special we ran a few weeks ago for Holiday Mini Sessions.  We had lots of interest for this red couch that we used last year. Will it make it another year??

Greetings! We’re getting started early (but not like the Christmas commercials that were already flooding the airwaves the day after Halloween!). You’ll want to get your Holiday Photos done now so you’ll have plenty of time to make gifts and Christmas cards with the pictures…and maybe even relax a little bit during the month of December. This year we have 3 different settings for holiday pics: downtown Knoxville, a Christmas Tree Farm, and the Red Couch in a field. We like downtown Knoxville because of the variety. The Old City has lots of color, Market Square has a fun look with some pretty lights,  and Gay Street provides a classic downtown look.  We’re also trying out a new location this year–a Christmas Tree Farm. Your family would look great against rows of evergreen trees, and we’ll have fun chasing your little ones around the trees, too. We had so much fun last year with the Red Couch Holiday Photos that we decided to bring it back this year for our third setting. We’ve had several people request it that weren’t in town for last year’s sessions.

We’re also offering holiday cards with your session, if you choose the print package. The cards are designed for you and delivered with envelopes, ready to send! It’s that easy! Why, we’ll even address them for you for a slight fee. Hehehe….no really! We’ll do it! =)

Fall is here and we were ready to edit some fun, colorful seasonal pics! We got just that at Life Down on the Farm in Powell, TN, this past weekend.  If you’re looking for something fun to do with your kids you should visit this Farm. You can get lost in a corn maze, pet baby farm animals (my favorite part!!!), visit the pumpkin patch, ride a kiddie train, and jump on a giant, inflatable pillow. You just have to see this. It looks like so much fun. We met some of our favorite families and had fun chasing their kids around =) We managed to get some really cute photos in the meantime.

Decisions, decisions…  What a great idea that Erin Shellman, Private Events Director of Club Le Conte came up with!  We teamed up with her, Lisa Foster Floral Design, and White Table Specialty Linen & Chaircover Rentals to create eight wedding themes to help brides visualize the space in Club Le Conte’s many rooms.  The flowers by Lisa Foster were as beautiful as always.  We’ve had several past brides use her team and you can always tell the creativity and precision that goes into their work.  It was great actually meeting Lisa and Kim and working with them!  Their shop must be a fun place to work and visit.  If you stop by their shop in the Bearden area, you can walk next door to see White Table Linens and Wedding Wonderland, to find the perfect dress, all in one stop.  Dorinda of White Table put together some beautiful linen combinations for the eight table set-ups.  There are so many possibilities with each color combination.  I loved some of the textured table cloths and the chair covers really make a difference in the look of each table.  We even learned some cool ways to tie chair sashes and some new napkin folds.  It was great working with everyone and enjoying the best lunch we’ve had in a while at Club Le Conte.  The food was delicious!  The seared scallops and crab meat pasta makes my mouth water thinking about it now.  Brides, if you are still thinking about a reception venue, it is definitely worth your time to meet with Erin at Club Le Conte.  She is great to work with and has some affordable options.  Amy had her reception there in 2009.  It is a beautiful place overlooking downtown Knoxville.

So, what could your reception look like?  That’s what we teamed up to show you.  Which is your favorite?

I had the privilege of photographing the Meet and Greet at Star Jam 2011 with the band Train. They were cool guys. I was nervous and didn’t want to hold them up, so we banged out the pics fast! Of course I had to get one with them, too! Later I got to take pics on the stage with them. What a treat!dsc_0058
